A Pretty Tiny Train Station...
A small train station lost in the Aspe Vallée in the French Pyrénées. It was served by the line Pau-Oloron-Canfranc (see our page on the abandoned international railway station of Canfranc). The line is closed down in 1970 after a train accident on a bridge that will never be repaired, and coaches start to replace the trains between France and Spain.

The snowy train station
At the end of the eighties, the project of an underground road trans-Pyrenean tunnel becomes concrete and raises lot of negative opinions. Eric Pététin, symbol of the local environmentalist movement creates the comunity "La Goutte d'eau" (the 'water drop'). The Lescun Cette-Eygun train station is used as hq, strategically located, a few kilometers close to the tunnel construction site...
Twenty years later, after a bunch of demonstrations, expulsions, expropriations,...
The outcome is sad for the environmentalists: the road tunnel works since some years already, and RFF (owner of the whole French railway network) evicts the last indomitable opponent...
