Welcome To Jumet...
Yet another depressing urban exploration. This huge factory is located in the heart of a town badly hurt by the economic recession, formerly famous for its glass industry. Small damaged houses and abandoned buildings along the streets...Located right in the center of Verviers (Belgium), these abandoned barracks covers 2 hectares. It has just been sold at the time of our visit for 2 millions of euros and will be converted to housing.
Abandoned in 1999, formerly BBR, Verlipack Jumet produced glass bottles in large quantities, like Heineken cans, Muscadet white wine bottles...
Up to 800 workers used to work here not so long ago...Nowadays, his place is devastated, plundered and squatted.
Yet the beautiful colored bricks buildings witness a not so far past, extremely active. Hard to trust the motto tagged on the factory entrance, "Jumet vivra" -Jumet will survive...
