Worth seeing now before they completely change it.

There is no way to get in the crypt. Both doors are locked and you need a key to open them.
So this place is no longer to visit without breaking in. And that is not what we do!

Chase Elementary, John H. Vohr Elementary and Horace Mann High School. I have fond memories of school although, I must admit.............the last year at Horace Mann was difficult. As a child, playing Little League at Mann Bridge Little League(Wiseway)...those were great years. I remember going to play in an All Star game at Brunswick Litle League. Grass infield and an electric scoreboard, they certainly were not the norm! Great times. Later I played Babe Ruth at Horace Mann Babe Ruth (Katz Kittens). We played out on 5th Avenue (Budd Field I think) I remember the Lure was across the road. I later worked at The Lure. All good times. Does anyone remember The Pantry across from Horace Mann. Every one used to eat lunch there. It was a hangout before and after school. It was in the basement of a house. The owners were named Jack and Una. Used to go to Shavels Drugs Store, Gold Coast Foods, Hamms Dog House, Linccoln Deli at 4th and Fillmore, Tivoli Tap (Italian Beef).
That was a long time ago and I wonder if Gary (GI as it is called) can survive? Only time will tell, I left in 1969 and have not returned..........this sight makes me want to make a visit. One last thing, why did Lew Wallace High School call Horace Mann students cookie-pushers?

One day someone decided it wasn't needed anymore and just got up and left. This crypt is really interesting. I am assuming those bodies are still in the tombs? Some over 100 years old. Who decided to "get up a leave" those are people's brother, mothers, wife, sisters etc. Is it legal to leave them, is it sanitary?? I amce across a house near where I live and was poking around (didnt have a cam) and it looked like whoever was there just up and left. Shoes still in the rack, clothes in the closets. There was a "Hanson" poster in what I guess to be a girls bedroom. They were popular around 1998 or so. In this case it was like they were hiding from the law and they got word the authorities were on to them. Somone said, "we have to go, we have to go now! Don't take anything, just the clothes on you back" and the up and left. I often wonder what the stories are about abandoments.
