La firma del arquitecto
Otra maravilla olvidada...
Construída de 1910 a 1913 por el arquitecto liejano E. Claes, se trata de un edificio de hormigón armado con una imponente fachada de estilo Art Nouveau.
Es uno de los pocos ejemplos de teatro cinematográfico de antes de la Primera Guerra Mundial que todavía está en pie.

El "Ciné Varia" está hoy en día desvalijado. Han desaparecido todas los elementos decorativos. No obstante, el lugar sigue siendo impresionante debido a su enormen tamaño interior, sus grandes balcones y su gran telón rojo.
Al estar el acceso al interior del teatro completamente impracticable, el lugar ha permanecido a salvo de los vándalos, saqueadores y graffiteros.

Y después ¿qué ocurrió? El año 1986 es el último en que se utiliza el teatro. En 1992, las fachadas y una parte del tejado son nombradas monumento histórico.
Y fue en 2000 cuando el IPW (Instituto del patrimonio Wallon) se convirtió en el propietario del teatro. Las fachadas tenían que recuperar el aspecto de antaño pero las obras no comenzaron ¡hasta finales de 2004!
A mediados de 2005, fecha en que exploramos el edificio, por falta de presupuesto, se interrumpen las obras. ¿El proyecto será convertirlo en centro cultural? ¿en guardería? Estos bellos proyectos parecen hoy haber dejado de tener futuro...
